Manchester United 1920s shirt
This shirt was worn for most of the 1920s. There has been speculation that the new white kits were introduced by John Chapman, when he took over the Managers job at United from Airdrieonians - perhaps he introduced the colours of his former club to mark his arrival and try to change the fortunes of United. This shirt is long sleeved and made from 100% knitted cotton with a red chevron and a lace up neck.

Manchester United 1948 FA Cup Final shirt
The 1948 FA Cup Final was contested by Manchester United and Blackpool. United, who had not appeared in an FA Cup Final for 39 years, won 4–2, with two goals from Jack Rowley and one apiece from Stan Pearson and John Anderson. Eddie Shimwell and Stan Mortensen scored Blackpool's goals. With his goal, Shimwell became the first full-back to score in a Wembley cup final. This shirt is long sleeved and made from drill cotton.

Manchester United captured the hearts of the nation by reaching the final in the aftermath of the Munich air crash. A year earlier, Busby's Babes had tried in vain to become the first team of the century to achieve the League and FA Cup double and their return trip to Wembley saw the whole of Britain cheering United on. But Bolton proved too strong, as did their desire not to be overwhelmed by public opinion in the same manner which dictated their previous cup final appearance in 1953 when Blackpool scored twice in the last few minutes to secure the match 4-2.
